Nose in a Book

“Nose in a Book”

(A poem I just wrote…)

For an hour or two
Up, I didn’t look
Instead my nose
Was pressed to a book.

Long road before me
But I wasn’t driving
I sat passenger style
With no GPS guiding.

Kids in the back
Mesmerized by a show
Husband checking phone
Dark clouds hanging low.

I block out all noise
Become the fantasy girl
Who talks to the prince
In an ogre-filled world.

I laugh, I’m shocked
With each turning page
I like this bold maiden
Spirited for her age.

Too much time has gone by
Since I was lost in a tale
I need to read more
Let words be my sail.

Thank you teaser trip
For reminding me how
That books are my joy
My escape from the now.

Yet true adventure awaits
Crazy characters close by
As my family and real life
Stand right before my eyes.
