World Poetry Day – March 21, 2015
Today is World Poetry Day. How cool is that? I never knew this day existed. That is terrible since I love to write and read poetry.
I’ve been a poet since age ten. That’s when I wrote my first poem. I entered it into a school contest and won first prize.
I still enjoy writing random poems – from Haiku to rhymes to random, free flowing. I love it all – dark, light, funny, romantic. I prefer shorter or less than two pages typed poems. But of course I’ve read The Canterbury Tales and Beowulf back in my college days.
What I read or write depends upon my mood. I really enjoy it. Here are three poems that I wrote today in honor of World Poetry Day.
1. Kids arguing & up at 6am,
Dishes unloaded, laundry started
Spring cleaning
Bacon, omelet & banana pancakes made
Not even 9am yet!
3. Spring cleaning today
I rather watch spring training
Baseball coming soon…
*Note: The second and third poems are also a Haiku
Follow me on Twitter where I often write poetry, several times per week. Check out all my poetry that has been posted on this blog too.
Happy World Poetry Day! Make time to read a poem or write one today. Or just read mine.
