Laundry Surprise
Every week I find something new
A doll, a ball and Mickey Mouse too
At the bottom of the laundry bin
Peeping out to scare me again
I shouldn’t be startled at this
With scattered pieces and toys amiss
My two kids make quite the mess
A fake lizard beneath a pink dress
They are creepy; they are cute
The stuffed owl is truly a hoot
I wonder if they are trying to escape
From being squeezed or stuck to tape
Tortured by their biggest, yet tiniest fans
And whisked away to imaginative lands
The weirdness of these finds fades after awhile
My routine laundry surprise always makes me smile.

This is an impromptu poem I wrote after finding yet another surprise in my children’s laundry basket 🙂
