New, Multi-purpose Writing Space
Yesterday my family and I enjoyed a late Sunday brunch. Then we shopped at an antiques and flea market style place. I had my eye on purchasing a used chair for the corner of my bedroom – to design a small area for me to sit, read, write and study in peace.
Two weekends ago I had spotted a chair that I desired. I had to first sell a few household items to make room for it though. I did that and was ready and hopeful to retrieve it. Sadly, someone else must have picked out that chair for their own serenity spot. It was gone.
My husband Kirk pointed out something else that could be used for my writing/reading space along with several other functions. How about this he asked?
I put my arm and head against the back. It did feel nice. Actually I fit perfectly on it. The price was reasonable and it seemed to be in great condition. Why not? Let’s get it, I said.
We arranged it at the foot of our bed. The cushion lifts up for storage space (Hello books and writing tools – you now have a new home!)
I can curl up on this thing and possibly take a nap. I’ve already read a few book chapters on it.
My husband and I can sit on it in the mornings to more easily put our shoes on our feet. I can even do repeats of tri-cep arm exercises and push-ups off the sides. Yes, I tested it out!
Let’s be honest – it will also make a good foreplay sofa or perhaps even turn into a regular love-making space. New places are always exciting, especially to a seasoned married couple like us (wink, wink).
I can envision many different uses and purposes for this small piece of furniture. Mostly though I want it to be my spark, my igniter for writing and story-telling. Or my space for slipping away into a book’s adventure…
I cannot wait to see how this creative space takes me to a deeper place. It already inspired me to hand-write this post before I typed it up on my computer to share.
Do you find ways to re-purpose materials, furniture and more within your home for your own personal space?
