A Glimpse Inside My Head (a poem)

Sipping coffee while holding hands,
I relax for 15 minutes and then it begins.
Let’s make pancakes and eggs on the grill.
I need to return the library books today.
Dogs are whining, we should feed them.
What do we need to accomplish?
Let’s make a list…need groceries…
Oh, my new gadget will be here soon.
Look at those fallen trees, they make me sad.
I should write a poem about how I feel.
Those poor squirrels have nothing to jump on.
Look at the gorgeous, yellow butterfly.
Hey sweetie, did you sleep well?
Can you help me in the kitchen?
I better do a load of laundry.
Where is my other sock? Missing in action
Let’s play some music on Pandora.
I’ll start a Jonas Brothers station
Since we have Camp Rock songs in our heads
Time for lunch. What about dinner?
Do you know the muffin man?
The muffin man. The muffin man.
Then we recite the lines from Shrek
Two hours later we’re comparing him to Donkey
Dang that was a good film and soundtrack
Are we going on bike rides today?
I need to call my mom.
I’ll text my friend too.
Yay, you’ve got mail.
Another pen pal letter, girls.
I thought of another song to add to the playlist.
My mind rewinds and repeats.

Some down town might feel good once in a while. I give myself a break now and then, usually with a little fun TV.
