But I Write (a Poem)
I wrote this poem around 10:30 p.m. on a weekend. I was inspired to write it after forcing myself to work on a book project for a solid hour. The day had been long and full of activities. Sitting my butt in a chair to create writing after 9:00 pm (and my children sleeping) was not an easy task. I was very tired and my eyes felt heavy. I wanted to read or watch a non-thinking-required TV show instead. I was not very motivated to write but I knew that I should. I knew that I’d feel better if I did. So I did write. I wrote ten pages in fact and it felt great.
As writers, we must write even when we don’t feel compelled to do so. We must write…
But I Write (A Poem)
By: Mandy B. Fernandez
I’m tired
But I write
My hand hurts
But I write
My eyes are heavy
But I write
My idea stinks
But I write
I’m distracted
But I write
I’m no good
But I write
I’m rejected
But I write
I’m out of paper
But I write
I doubt myself
But I write
I may fail
But I write
My mind wanders
But I write
I have nothing to write
But I write
